Capriccioli Beach: Two Coves and the Best Snorkelling
Capriccioli: two coves among pink granite and Mediterranean scrub. Outstanding snorkelling. Limited car park — arrive early with KS Rent Sardinia.
Framed by wind-sculpted pink granite, Capriccioli provides the finest snorkelling in the region across twin pristine coves. Parking spaces are incredibly scarce; secure your spot before 09:00. Bespoke vehicle delivery to Porto Cervo is handled seamlessly by KS Rent.
The Sculpted Splendour of Gallura’s "Little Goats"
Deriving its moniker from the Gallurese word for "little kids" (young goats), this peninsula features smooth, dome-like granite formations that divide the coast. Here, the scent of wild juniper and lentisk hangs over shallow waters, where a thriving marine ecosystem acts as a living aquarium. From the shoreline, one can gaze out towards the uninhabited islets of Soffi and Mortorio, making this spot feel beautifully remote despite its prestigious location.
Navigating the Coast
Reaching this peninsula involves a brief 8-minute drive along the scenic SP59 route branching off from Porto Cervo towards Romazzino. The designated pay-and-display parking area is exceptionally small; during the peak months of July and August, arriving by 09:00 is essential to secure a space. The drive from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is a straightforward 32 km journey taking roughly 35 minutes.
A Tale of Two Beaches
- The Eastern Cove: Slightly broader, featuring a sandy floor interspersed with vital posidonia meadows, perfect for spotting diverse marine life.
- The Western Cove: A more secluded pocket bordered by blush-pink granite boulders and exceptionally transparent shallows.
- Pack your snorkelling gear: the rocky crevices are home to curious octopuses, sea bream, and juvenile groupers.
- This remains a wild, undeveloped stretch without lido facilities—please carry sufficient drinking water and refreshments.
Exploring Beyond the Peninsula
Nearby coastal escapes include the refined shores of Romazzino (3 minutes away), the crescent-shaped Spiaggia del Principe (10 minutes), and the expansive sands of Liscia Ruja (8 minutes). Navigating these winding, perfectly surfaced coastal roads is best enjoyed behind the wheel of a precise machine like a BMW M2 or an Audi RS3.
Parking & Access Info
Very limited paid car park alongside the access road; arrive by 9:00 am in July–August.
